Welcome! I am an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs where I co-direct the Center for Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy.
My research is interdisciplinary, with a focus on scholarship that addresses current challenges in environmental policy. Priority is given to research conducted in partnership with state and federal agencies, environmental and community-based organizations, and other stakeholders seeking solutions to complex environmental management and policy challenges. My work employs diverse methods, including approaches from environmental economics, policy studies, systems thinking, community science, and qualitative social sciences. Water policy is my area of specialty, along with issues that intersect with water including food, agriculture, urban development, conservation, toxics, and natural resource management.
I advise students in the MS in Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy Program and PhD students in Public Affairs.
